What is T.A.N.I.
Hello, I am SI. I am a surgical trainee, podcaster, blogger, and aspiring youtuber . On this website, we explore skills and strategies for being happy, productive, and amazing at what you want to be! The key word here is skills. The ability to excel, be productive, and even be happy is a skill. A skill that can be learned, if the right trainer is found. We can use these skills to aspire to a better version of ourselves.
But staying positive and living an impactful life requires nurturing yourself and finding inspiration to do so!
So, in T.A.N.I, the T stands for trusting yourself that you can become better by training yourself. The A stands for being ambitious, aspiring, and authentic at the same time. N stands for nurture, because let's be honest. You can't run on an empty tank, so love and take care of yourself. Finally, I stand for being inspirational and making a positive impact on the world.

My newsletter The Mindful Surgeon is where I share many of these actionable strategies for surgeons. I love surgery! It combines art, science, and craft. There's a real lack of collected resources for surgeons in training, about topics other than surgery that are important for our careers and personal growth. This newsletter is where I share ideas, thoughts, and tools for surgeons. There's also a The Mindful Surgeon YouTube channel with skills videos.
For surgeons, FRCS ( Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons ) is the ultimate examination that tests their knowledge, education, training, and surgical abilities. As I prepared for the FRCS exam, I created my podcast Studying for FRCS as a place to store my audio study notes and improve my viva skills. This project has received such a positive response from listeners around the world, and it has been growing steadily ever since. A YouTube channel is also dedicated to studying for FRCS, where I share videos on study materials and examination techniques.
The Mindful Learner is my journal, containing book summaries and learning materials designed to assist in the process of learning and developing skills. I use it to keep track of everything I learn. Here I reflect, contemplate, and have fun with the topics that interest me, other than surgery .
Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip top if you must but take the step.
